Link Exchanges Don't Work
Start your search over Start Over
If you follow any of the latest SEO blogs and discussion boards you will certainly know that link exchanges are a thing of the past. Most of the time link exchanges are a waste. Search engines have learned to recognize when links are exchanged. Even three-way links where A links to B, B links to C, and C links to A are identifiable by most search engines. Links from other sites are getting harder and harder to obtain.

What's the solution? Well, aside from waiting for your site to be discovered by a willing webmaster that will place a one-way link on his site to yours, you're left with few alternatives. But there is a solution: pre-sell pages (a.k.a. content link exchanges).

What is a pre-sell page? In essence, a pre-sell page is a content rich web page or article about your website, product, or service. It must be a well written informational piece with a carefully placed link to your site. A good pre-sell page will have certain important elements known to boost ranking.

How do you get a pre-sell page? You can start by asking a webmaster for one. Of course, the writing a pre-sell page requires more work than simple exchanging links. It takes time and effort to write a good article so you may want to do that part. The problem is a webmaster may not want to host an article you wrote, so you will need to review and negotiate back and forth the terms and content of the page.
